Department Profile

The Department of Dairy Microbiology is engaged in various activities pertaining to teaching, research, training and technology transfer in the field of dairy microbiology. The department is also actively involved in investigating, characterizing, evaluating and documenting the microorganisms relevant to the dairy industry.
 
Activities
 

  • Conducting undergraduate dairy microbiology courses
  • Organizing training to students, farmers, entrepreneurs and researchers in the field of dairy microbiology
  • Consultancy / training services in regard to supply of starter cultures, microbiological analysis and setting standards for regulatory compliance of dairy products in our country.
  • Research programmes focussing on isolation of indigenous microbial cultures and its utilization in preparation of fermented dairy products.


Laboratory

The department lab houses all vital instruments and equipments for conducting practical sessions and research activities.
