18The Colleges has to focus not only on milk production but also on value addition since there is wide scope in the value addition of milk and milk products while Kerala have a huge market, the Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Adv. V S Sunil Kumar said while inaugurating the new College of Dairy Science and Technology under Faculty of Dairy Science at Kolahalamedu Campus, Idukki. He emphasized that every technology should be accessible from file to field. The University has to do its extension works in such a way that the technology developed in the college should be easily accessible to the farmers at the grass root level so that Farmers could be benefitted from the recent technologies.
Shri Anil Xavier, IAS, Vice Chancellor welcomed the gathering. Dr Dinker Singh, Special Officer, CDST-Klmd gave report about setting up of College with future action plan. Smt ES Bijimol, Hon’ble MLA, Peermade and Member, Board of Management, KVASU, presided the inauguration function.

A workshop on “Sustainable Dairy Development in Kerala” was also organised on the same day which was handled by Shri Shyam Suraj, Assistant Professor, CDST, Mannuthy.
