15A Nature Camp at Athirapally and Valppara was conducted by the NSS unit of College of Dairy Science and Technology, Trivandrum on the 13th and 14th of November 2017. The camp members included fourteen B.Tech students of both 2015 and 2016 admission and Dr. C. R. Rachana, Asst. Professor (Dairy Chemistry) and Officer (i/c) – NSS Unit as the accompanying teaching staff. The trip was divided into two sessions; first day session covering Athirapally –Vazhachal Forest Reserve and the second day session covering Valppara Forest Range. The intention of the trip was to get a proper understanding of the biodiversity, how badly it is affected by the ignorance and activities of humans and to cultivate an eco-friendly demeanour thereby providing a harness to the ever increasing global warming rate. The team also could visit the tribal colonies (Kadar and Malayar) of Athirapally-Vazhachal forest reserve, the only inhabitants in the area.
