05NCC Republic Day Camp (RDC), conducts horse riding competition for the Remount and Veterinary (R&V) Cadets participating from various directorates. In the interdirectorate R&V competitions this year, 75 horses from 12 NCC directorates took part, wherein 45 senior division(boys) and 30 senior wing(girls) cadets competed for medals and trophies in various disciplines of equitation namely show jumping, tent pegging, dressage and hacks. Every year, a team of 5 RVC cadets and 5 horses representing the 1(Kerala) Remount and Veterinary Squadron NCC, Mannuthy, Thrissur participate in the RDC. This NCC unit is situated within the campus of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy. This year 2 out of the 5 cadets were from College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, who are, Senior under officer (SUO) Anjali C J, a fourth year student and Corporal (CPL) Aravind K Unni, a third year student of BVSc & AH. SUO Anjali C J participated in the senior category of riders, the Veteran and won a gold medal in hacks and a bronze medal in dressage on the magnificent horse Paramvir. She participated in the Prime Minister ( PM) Rally held on 28 January, 2018 as the mounted Flag Bearer and was one among the 5 who led the contingent. She also participated in the junior category of riders, the Novice in RDC 2017 and won 2 silver medals. CPL Aravind K Unni participated in the Novice category and was also a participant of the Prime Minister Rally.
