08Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr.C.N.Jayadevan will be inaugurating KVASU supported sales counter “Aranyakam” of startup village project at Cherpu on 8th June,2018 at Padinjattumuri , Cherpu at 10 A.M. on 8th June 2018. The sales counter supported by the startup project of Directorate of Entrepreneurship will showcase the products from the “Agrocart” startup group developed by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, formed with 50 selected farmers of the Sadgamaya foundation, Cherpu. The university supported project will ensure clean production and safe marketing of the produce, under the label “safe to eat”.
In the era of growing concern regarding the safety of food products especially on pesticide and antibiotic residues, this venture will ensure scientific production of farm produce and testing for residues of common pesticides by the university. The products from the university under the brand “KASAVU” will also be made available in the sales counter. The Agrocart startup will market farm fresh milk, Curd, Ghee, egg, quail homestead egg, homegrown vegetables, fruits, brown rice, organic fertilizers such as fry dung, compost etc. The university also plans to support the startup group in Good Agriculture Practice compliant production and scientific processing of the farm produce to ensure better profitability and sustainability of the venture. This is the second startup village project supported by the University in Thrissur district and the farmer members been selected from Cherpu, Chenum, Ettumana who are engaged in agriculture, animal farm management and fisheries. The first was at Pullazhy Block, the Kole area in Thrissur District.
The programme will be presided by President Cherpu Grama Panchayat Sri. C.K. Vinod. Sri. P.T. Sunny, vice president, Block Panchayat, Cherpu, Smt. Ranjini Thekkath, Member, Block Panchayat smt.Sajith Anilkumar & Sri. Ummer, Panchayat members, Members of the Management council of the university, Dr. M.K. Narayanan, Dr. Sabin George, Dr. A. Prasad, Officers of the University, Dr. Joseph Mathew, Director Academic & Research, Dr. N. Ashok, Finance Officer, Dr. K. M. Shyam Mohan, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Dr. C. Latha, Associate Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy, Dr. Tresamol, P,V. and Farmer representatives will address the function. The Director Entrepreneurship i/c Dr.Joseph Mathew will deliver the report of the project. Coordinator, “Agrocart” Startup Mr. Anil Nath will welcome the Gathering and Principle investigator for Startup project of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Dr.Deepa Ananth will offer the Vote of Thanks.
