10The feed mill which started functioning under School of Animal Nutrition and feed technology celebrates first anniversary on 6th Jyuly,2018. The feed mill was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MInister for State on Agriculture, Sri. V.S. Sunil kumar. The mill produces balanced feed for goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits and laboratory animals. Currently the mill is functioning under revolving fund feed project on supply of compounded feed and mineral mixture for various classes of livestock.
The programme was inaugurated by the Registrar of the University, Dr.Joseph Mathew. In his inaugural adres, the Registrar appreciated the tam for bringing out the quality produce from the feed mill and felt that the mill should have further diversification. Currently 13 products are being offered by the Department. The department also provides the mineral mixtures for cattle and pigs. Dr. K.P.Sreekumar , Professor, Research coordination& Director International collaboration, presided the meeting. The farmer kit was distributed to farmers by Director, Academic and Research, Dr.N.Ashok. The finance officer and former in charge of the feed mill, Dr.K.M.Syam Mohan released the docket on the report of the feed mill. Dr.Ally K, Professor &Head of the Department of Animal Nutrition presented the report of one year activity of the feed mill. The feed mill has produced------Tonnes of cattle feed---- Tonnes of goat feed and ----- Tonnes of laboratory/experimental animal feed during the last one year amounting to a total turn over of Rs. --- Crore. She has also opined that currently the feed mill is working on the generator and awaiting connection from KSEB. On availing this the production could be increased to meet the high demand of the farmers of the state.
Management council Members Dr.P.Sudheer Babu, Dr. A.Prasad and Dr. Sabin George and Dr. K. Shyama, Professor and Head, Dept. of Animal Nutrition, CVAS, Pookode offered felicitation. Dr.Sajith Pururshothaman offered welcome address and Dr.Ajith K.S offered vote of thanks.
A farmer seminar was convened later on “Recent trends in feed compounding” by Dr.Biju Chacko, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Animal Nutrition, CVAS,Pookode. The seminar was inaugurated by former Professor and Head, Dr.Gangadevi, P attended by about 100 farmers. The farmers were offered special kits and a visit to feed mill was convened.
