Prof. (Dr) C. B. Devanand retired on Superannuation from KVASU on 8.11.2019

Dr.C.B.Devanand completed BVSc &AH degree from College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences,Mannuthy in 1986 and started his career at Department of Animal Husbandry, Kerala State on 30.4.1986 as Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Dispensary, Irumbiliyam, Malappuram District. His career in Kerala Agricultural University as Junior Assistant Professor, Dept. of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy began in 31.7.1989. Holding the charge of Professor in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology since 2010, he served as Director, Surgical Animal Modelling at Kard Scientific India Private Ltd, Pune, an American based Contract Research Organization (2006-2007) for a short stint of 1 year and 2 months. He was raised to the position of Professor and University Head, Dept. of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in 2014 and continued the post till retirement.

During his tenure, he has worked in several distinguished positions in KVASU. He was the  Implementing Officer for three mega projects in KVASU viz. Digital Radiology Unit ( NABARD-RIDF , Rs 55 lakh) , The State of the art , Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex  (ICAR-EFC Grant ,Rs 15 Cr.) and  eVetconnect, the first of its kind in Veterinary Universities in India ( NABARD-RIDF & State Plan ,Rs 99 lakh) and acted as Principal and Co-principal Investigator in several EAPs of his department which are few of his outstanding contributions to mention and to leave as worth legacy to University as a whole.

In his 30 1/4 years of service in the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, he has moulded several undergraduates and postgraduates and rendered service to poor and marginal farmers, general public which are worth mentioning as well. He has 107 scientific and 17 popular articles to his credit ,wrote a chapter in a book,and presented papers in several international and national seminars and symposia. He has guided 1 PhD and 13 MVSc scholars as Major Guide, 6 PhD and 29 MVSc scholars as minor guide.

He was nominee of CPCSEA (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments in Animals) to Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) of 17 institutions in Kerala, appointed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi.

In recognition of his active participation in curricular and co-curricular activities, outstanding contributions for asset creation in KVASU, University bestows upon Prof.(Dr.) C.B.Devanand a bright, active and productive retired life.
