Directorate of Entrepreneurship under Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has started TBIC for promoting entrepreneurship in diary,veterinary and animal husbandry sector. TBIC aims for transforming technical and scientific knowledge towards farmers for achieving higher production, productivity healthier breeds, food security and sustainability
Directorate of entrepreneurship under Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University laid foundation for technology business incubation centre for the support of farmers at grass root level. Through TBI centre, the university will support technologies/ innovations/ ideas/ practices emerging from farmers, students, faculty, and public to support their startups in this sector. The TBIC will focus on sectors like precision farming in all livestock farming, dairy processing, meat processing, feed technology, and food processing with a purview on doubling farmer’s income. The new entrants will be supported to bring out a good business proposal, project development, product development, capacity building programs, value addition, market study, marketing technologies, certifications and patenting the innovations on case to case basis. Support will be made on developing the products, convening b2b sessions, industria meet, farmer meet, exhibitions, melas, providing solutions quality products, certification agencies, registrations etc.
The project entitled “Developing technology Business incubation center at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University” is being implemented. The initial inception of the centre was done by Hon’ble vice chancellor of KVASU on 7th April 2018
With the availability of Chancellors fund of Rs.15 lakhs, the space area of 5000 square feet of old SABS building allocated for the TBIC was revamped into precision farming advisory lab, library, packaging and storage rooms, infrastructure for technology incubations, office room, Processing and preservation room for livestock products, seminar hall for conducting meetings and workshops, residential facilitation for incubates, roof top poultry brooder unit. Incubation facilitations are also made available to students of all campuses, alumni and other incubates who are interested to do innovative technology and business incubation with KVASU. The “Chancellors fund” is also been utilised for funding the infrastructure (non recurrent assets) for 5 student incubation projects. A part of the money will also be reserved for developing a programme chair in connection of motivation and entrepreneurship development among faculty and students of KVASU.

3. Eco-system Development
a. Infrastructure development
Collaboration with “a-Idea” NAARM
An MoU has been signed jointly by the a-Idea of NAARM and KVASU on (1). Providing capacity building workshops/Sensitization workshops or through focused Entrepreneurship development program (EDP’S) to startups of KVASU on a defined program structure and budget on a case to case basis
(2). Providing incubation and Business support services on a case to case basis as per the incubation protocols at a-IDEA.
KVASU shall be responsible for
(1) Technical and Technological mentoring to startups of a-IDEA in livestock sector.
(2) Providing access of the wet lab technologies/farm at KVASU to the startups of a-IDEA in livestock sector on a case to case basis.
