TVCC, Pookode started under College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode under Kerala Agricultural University during 2005 as state of the art veterinary clinical service, complying to the stipulations laid down by VCI with all modern diagnostic and clinical facilities. The present building was built under the RIDF of NABARD. Later the hospital was upgraded to the status of a station under KVASU from 2011 onwards. Presently TVCC, Pookode is functioning as a referral clinical centre for Wayanad, other northern districts of Kerala as well as neighbouring states. Apart from the main hospital as Pookode campus, a peripheral hospital at Kakkavayal and a farm clinic at Sugandhagiri are also functioning under this station.
The station envisages ensuring advanced diagnostic, clinical and surgical facilities to address all animals and birds sufferings, ensuring productivity and optimum reproduction performance of livestock, supporting rural livelihood through sustainable livestock and poultry farming, conducting research programme for advancements in clinical services and wildlife disease control, engaging in preventive healthcare practices, conducting rural health camps, imparting quality veterinary clinical training to equip students with global competence, conducting training, camps and consultancy services and ensuring knowledge dissemination to farmers, public, professionals, children and entrepreneurs
Station is mainly funded by the Plan and Non-Plan allocations of KVASU budget received from Govt. of Kerala. ICAR has funded 75 lakhs rupees during 2011-12 for establishing a centre experiential learning on critical care. Also projects for receiving funds from other sources like Development Grants of ICAR, NABARD-RIDF, RKVY are on processing. KVASU has funded Rs. 30.00 lakhs from Chancellors Award fund during 2018-19 for upgrading critical care unit, establishing a transfusion medicine unit and furnishing training centre. Routine operations of hospitals are carried out through revolving fund projects.
TVCC, Pookode is functioning with the support of faculty from all clinical and para-clinical departments of CVAS, Pookode. Two major revolving fund projects are running in the station, one for the healthcare, diagnostic and surgical services while the other one is for running a margin free medical store at the hospital. In addition, a six months stipendiary training on veterinary nursing, laboratory and pharmacy practices for students completed VHSC is ongoing at this station.

Surgeons of TVCC, Pookode has successfully tele-guided a complicated thoracic surgery for correction of vascular ring anomaly and a rarest condition of cricopharyngeal dysphagia in dogs through online platforms for doctors stationed at Malaysia during 2020
Scientists, undergraduate and post graduate students presented various clinical papers of cases presented at TVCC, Pookode in national and international seminars and secured significant achievements
Many publications in national and international peer reviewed journals about the clinical cases presented at the hospital, their diagnosis and treatment studies by the scientists, undergraduate and post graduate students
ICAR fund for experiential learning in critical care for 75.00 lakhs
KVASU allotted Rs. 25.00 lakhs for purchase of a bus for transportation of students for clinical exposure during 2017-18, Rs. 30.00 lakhs for infrastructure improvement during 2018-19 and Rs. 30.00 lakhs for improvement of veterinary laboratory facilities
Providing research support for post-graduate and doctoral students of clinical and para-clinical subjects by permitting them to attend the wards, collect samples, sample processing, providing laboratory services and also for conducting treatment trials.

A Peripherl Veterinary Clinic is operated by TVCC, Pookode at Meenangadi, Wayanad where expert clinical serice and clinical training is offered from 9 Am to 12 PM on working days.
Extending clinical services to the rural areas, conducting clinical consultancy services, conducting health/ infertility/ immunization camps and awareness classes, organizing and associating with various training programmes for professionals, farmers, students and public.
