19Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organised an International Education Fair and Workshop on Opportunities for higher education abroad for the benefit of students and faculty members of the university and nearby universities in the state on 14th June2011.
Officials from British Council, USEFI, and Australian education, Campus France, Education Canada, IIM, KVASU and KAU presented papers and created awareness among students about the opportunities available in their respective countries. Different proficiency examinations and the strategy to get through them successfully with better communication and English proficiency were discussed. A directory on overseas education describing prospects, potentials and processes of study abroad programmes was released during the inaugural function of the Educational Fair. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion on Educational Opportunities abroad.
Dr.B.Ashok, Vice Chancellor, KVASU inaugurated the workshop and delivered key note address. Dr.A.Jalaludeen, Director, Academics and Research was the moderator. Mrs. Meera Satyanarayana, Educational Advisor, USEFI, Chennai presented a topic on Educational Opportunities in US. Mrs. Haripriya Vijay, Director, Auriga presented a paper on UK education. Mr.Roshen Paul of Austrade and Mrs. Joan Thankaraj of Campus France delivered opportunities in Australia and France respectively. Mr. Babu Thomas, Creative Campus Solutions, Bangalore presented a topic on Educational opportunities in Canada. Dr.M.G.Sreekumar, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikkode presented a topic on Funding opportunities for study abroad programmes. Mr.George Thomas of First education overseas, Kochi presented an overview on need for better English communication.
Among short communication papers, Prospects for Veterinary & Animal science research abroad was presented by Dr.H.Subrahmanian, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal sciences, Mannuthy, Dairy Science and Technology abroad by Dr.Rajendrakumar, Dean, College of Dairy science and Technology. Dr.S.Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU delivered a talk on Prospects for Developmental Studies Abroad and Dr. G.S.L.V.PrasadRao, Associate Director, Climatology; Kerala Agricultural University presented a paper on Climatology and Education Abroad. Agribusiness management-Better prospects ahead was presented by Dr.Sukumaran, Director, Agri B School& Dean, College of Co-operation and Banking, KAU.

Dr.K.P.Sreekumar, Professor, Research co-ordination was the moderator and Dr.LeoJoesph, Dean, College of Veterinary and animal Sciences, KVASU, Pookot expressed vote of thanks.200 students attended the one day workshop.
