Prof.(Dr) M.R.Saseendranath retired on 12th October 2015

Prof.(Dr) M.R.Saseendranath University Head, Dept. Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Mannuthy retired from University service on 12th October,2015. Prof.(Dr) M.R. Saseendranath hails from a small village, Peringottukara in Thrissur district of Kerala state. He had Graduated from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences , Mannuthy, Kerala Agricultural University during 1977 with second rank . Further, Dr. Saseendranath completed master’s degree programme in 1980 from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore in Veterinary Medicine with gold medal and perused doctorate degree from Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Veterinary Preventive Medicine during 1994 with gold medal. His professional career started as junior instructor in Kerala Agricultural University and served in farms, Krishi Vigyana Kendras and hospitals, College, university Headquarters of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in various capacities for thirty seven years. He has also been working in the Department of Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine as Professor and Head since 1998.

Prof(Dr) M.R. Saseendranath has acted as Director of Academics and Research(DAR) in Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University from March 2013 to September 2014. He has also served Al Mer Geb University, Al Khooms ,Libya as Associate Professor and Head from 2009 to 2011 in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to teach DVM students.

Published 111 research articles and contributed chapters for three books and practical manual. Guided fourteen students for masters four for doctorate .
Acted as Chairman and Editor of Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of KVASU. Acting a as editorial board member of various professional journals , referee for various journals including Indian Veterinary Journal, Life member of various Professional bodies and core group member for various technical advisor for Animal Husbandry Department of Govt. of Kerala. Acting as technical advisor for various public sector and private sector enterprises of disease surveillance (National Institute for Veterinary Epidemiology & disease Informatics (NIVEDI) Bangalore; Indian Immunologicals, Hyderabad).

Prestigious awards received.

1. Selected as “Best teacher” from the faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences ,Mannuthy during 2005.
2. Recipient of national award Bharat Ratna Dr. C. Subramanian award for outstanding teachers in Animal Science from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi during 2006.
