KVASU to host International workshops on Veterinary Nursing with UK Universities- Experts from Edinburgh interacted with Students

                        Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will host International Animal health and Welfare workshops on Veterinary Nursing at Pookode and Mannuthy Campuses from 16th November 2015 onwards. This is as part of International collaboration between KVASU and Royal Dick School of Veterinary medicine of University of Edinburgh, UK which is funded by UKIERI-UK India Educational and Research Initiative of British Council. Faculty members from University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier University, UK and eight students from the UK Universities will participate in the workshop. Dr. David Smith, Veterinary Nursing Programme Leader, School of Life, Sport and Social Sciences, Edinburgh Napier University will lead the delegation.Dr.Syam K Venugopal, Professor Department of Veterinary Surgery of KVASU is the Co-ordinator of the programme.
                         Members of University of Edinburgh’s Veterinary welfare team, Dr.Heather and Hayley will be arriving in Kerala on 12th November 2015 for the animal health and welfare workshops to be held in Mannuthy and Pookode. They will work with Veterinary nursing degree students and staff from Edinburgh Napier University.10 Junior clinical faculty members and Post graduate students of KVASU will participate in the workshops which will be held from 16th to 20th November 2015 at Pookode Campus and 23rd to 27th November 2015 at Mannuthy campus of KVASU.
The Workshops will facilitate the participants the opportunity to learn about best practice in veterinary medical care during pre and post treatment. As part of the workshops, there will be seminars on everything from wound cleaning/care to pain management. This is aimed for development of ‘Gold standard’ animal care within clinical practice in India. College of Animal Welfare collaborates with Edinburgh Napier University is offering BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing degree in Scotland to deliver animal care and veterinary nursing training at diploma and degree levels across the UK. At a time Animal welfare issues are emerging across the country workshop on Veterinary nursing will pave way for acquiring advancements in Veterinary Nursing across the globe and to formulate a course on Veterinary nursing for plus two students.
