Hon'ble Chancellor will release hiistory of Veterinary Medicine in Malayalam titled 'Salihothreeyam' on 19th November 2015

     

KVASU documented history of Veterinary medicine first in the World                      

The Book on History of Veterinary Medicine in Malayalam titled 'Salihothreeyam' depicting the history, status and future published by Publication division of Directorate of Entrepreneurship of KVASU will be released on 19th November 2015 by Honourable Chancellor of Kerala Justice Sri.P.Sathasivam during the inaugural session of IPSACON to be held at College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu, Palakkad District. This is the first publication in India about the history of Veterinary Medicine. Vice Chancellor of KVASU Dr.B.Ashok along with 45 authors has written this book. English version of this book will be published within a month.Salihothreeyam is the first publication in the World about the history of Veterinary medicine.The book with 325 pages have 14 chapters in three phases. Publication of this book is unique since it has been prepared by Vice chancellor along with 45 Post graduate students and faculty members. It covers the transition from nomadic animal rearing to animal healthcare system from 600AD to 1600AD. Developments and discoveries happened in Veterinary Science during the modern era were included in part one. Moreover it has covered development during 21^st Century, Global Veterinary education scenario and related publications.

Part two covers global Veterinary practice, administration, early warning system, the concept of one health and Office Epizootic International-OIE with its activities in detail including disease surveillance. Part three covers Challenges and opportunities in Veterinary education across the World, Strengths and Weaknesses of Indian Veterinary Education System, Veterinary education in Kerala, emergence of Veterinary University in the State and an overview of its activities.

Detailed appendix covers contribution of Veterinary Scientists in Animal healthcare, day one Competencies, OIE Commissions, World Animal Health information directory, list of Veterinary colleges across the World, Veterinary colleges of India, Contribution of Animal husbandry department, institution and bio resources.

Hon’ble Governor of Kerala Justice P.Sathasivam has written the foreword for the book suggested that the book need to be published in English to attract large readership across the world. The publication of book took two years of continuous effort. Along with Vice Chancellor Dr.B.Ashok, Director of Academic & Research Dr.K.Devada, Professor of Academics Dr.S Maya and Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan of KVASU played a pivotal role in the publication of this book.
