17In the changing scenario where entrepreneurship and livelihood issues are emerging across the world, it is the need of the hour to promote sustainable commercial farming practices, says planning board chief (Agri division) Dr Rajasekharan. Dr. Rajasekharan made this remark while inaugurating the stakeholder based workshop on Package of Practices recommendations 2015 organized by Directorate of Entrepreneurship of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at Hotel Mascot Thiruvananthapuram on 17th November 2015. Automations and mechanizations ease the areas which are acquiring momentum in the livestock sector. Ration balancing, mineral mapping and computation of cattle feeds based on area specificity need to be augmented in the state. At a time urbanization is taking place at a faster pace, livestock entrepreneurship requires urban specific models and Good farming practices in the forthcoming package of practices, Dr. Rajasekharan, added.
Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, Dr . T. P. Sethumadhavan, during the introductory speech, told that KVASU will publish print and E version of package of practices, both in Malayalm and English along with Smartphone based App. Registrar, KVASU, Dr. Joseph Mathew presided over the function . Director, Academics and Research, Dr. K. Devada, Dean, Dr. Sisilamma George, Director, Dairy development department, Smt. K. T. Sarojini, Director, SAMETI, Smt. P. S. Radhamony and Finance officer Dr. K. M. Syam Mohan offered felicitations. Dr. T. S. Rajeev expressed vote of thanks. 100 delegates from KVASU, Animal husbandry and Dairy development departments, Kerala livestock development board, and progressive farmers participated in the workshop. This was organized as part of PREBAV 2015. Entrepreneurship summit will be held on 18th November 2015 at Hotel Mascot , Trivandrum. Voice based SMS system for Livestock farmers will be released tomorrow.
