18 In the changing scenario in the Entrepreneurship sector, agripreneurs are emerging across the state. Kerala State Industrial Development Cooperation is promoting employed youths to become potential entrepreneurs, says Dr. V. Beena IAS Managing Director, KSIDC. DR. Beena made this statement while inaugurating the Entrepreneurship Summit organized by Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) as part of PREBAV 2015 at Hotel Mascot Thiruvananthapuram on 18th November 2015. KVASU is collaborating with KSIDC for establishing life science parks at Thiruvananthapuram. Banks play a key role in promoting entrepreneurship in the state, MD added.
While delivering the keynote address, Shri. K. V. Shaji, Chairman, Kerala Grameen Bank suggested that along with land labour and capital technology need to be promoted to increase productivity and profitability. Kerala Grameen Bank and KVASU will collaborate for identifying and promoting entrepreneurship in the state. Vice Chancellor of KVASU, Dr. B. Ashok IAS during the presidential address told that connectivity, markets and technology improve profitability through agri ventures. Entrepreneurs need to exploit the increasing disposable income of growing population.
Shri. P. T. Gopalakurup, Chairman, MILMA launched the voice based mobile messaging system – a joint venture initiative KVASU and Reliance Foundation enabling scientific interaction on a regular basis.
Registrar, KVASU Dr. Joseph Mathew, Registrar , KAU Dr. P. V. Balachandran, Director of Animal Husbandry Dr. S. Chandrankutty, Finance Officer , KVASU Dr. K. M. Shyam Mohan, and Shri. Jinu Verghese of Reliance Foundation offered felicitations. Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr. T. P. Sethumadhavan welcomed the delegates and Dr. Deepa Ananth Asst. Professor, KVASU expressed vote of thanks. Delegates from different stakeholder based departments, industries, Bankers, scientists, entrepreneurs and officers of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Departments participated in the summit.
During the summit, Dr. T. P. Sethumadhavan and Dr. Deepa Ananth introduced the new concept of Start Up Village and precision farming to promote safe to eat concept and productivity. Dr. A Prasad delivered a talk on profitable and commercial dairy ventures.Dr. P. V. Mohanan delivered a talk on poultry processing and waste management and Dr. Abdul Muneer delivered a talk on poultry ventures. Smt. Jeni P John Senior Manager, United India Insurance Co handled a session on Livestock Insurance, Smt. Divya, Manager NABARD detailed the schemes in livestock sector- major areas identified. Shri. Biju B, Asst Environmental Engineer, Kerala State pollution Control Board handled a session on Waste Management and Pollution control norms in livestock sector and Dr. M. Ramesh Kumar, Joint Director Dept. of Animal Husbandry explained livestock development schemes in animal husbandry sector.
