21 Directorate of Entrepreneurship of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organized Animal health cum awareness camp at Amba, Sugandhagiri of Pozhiuthana Grama Panchayat of Wayanad district on 21st November 2015. Director of Entrepreneurship of KVASU Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan inaugurated the Animal health cum awareness programme. The programme was organized as part of Wayanad 2030 for the strategic upliftment of Wayanad tribal colonies with the help of Pozhuthana Veterinary Dispensary and MRCMPU Entrepreneurship Centre based at Sugandhagiri. As part of the programme, scientific interventions will be done by the University in the areas of Livestock production, dairying, poultry production, education, livelihood and public health. University identified Bhoothanam and Chempatty tribal colonies of Vythiri and Pozhuthana grama panchayat along with tribal schools of Wayanad for the project. University regularly conducts awareness programme for tribal school students, parents and teachers to create awareness on future areas of higher education and career.
In the livestock sector programmes were intended for livelihood support, productivity enhancement and sustainable animal health system. University will provide fodder, mineral mixture, goats and poultry in the selected colonies. University will ensure market led production and their livestock products will be marketed through KVASU’s sales outlets. Medical camps will be organized periodically with the help of different stakeholder departments in the sector. Beneficiaries of the selected colonies will be given goats and poultry units from Sheep and Goat farm and University Poultry farms of the University. Dr.P.Vidya, Dr.Abdu Aseez (Asst professors, KVASU), Dr.Suja, Miss Soja and final year students of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode conducted the Animal health camp.
