Dr. Jose John Chungath,Professor & Head, Department of Veterinary Anatomy, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy retired from service due to superannuation. Professor Chungath is a devoted teacher, efficient scientist and a good administrator. He completed BVSc degree in 1978 from Kerala Veterinary College and Research Institute and MVSc in Veterinary Anatomy from Kerala Agricultural University in 1982 with KAU merit scholarship. He did his PhD from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar with ICAR-SRF in the year 1987and won silver-medal.
Dr. Jose John Chungath started his career as Junior Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy in the year 1979. Later on he was promoted as Assistant Professor in 1984, Associate Professor in 1989 and Professor in the year 1998. He was the Professor and Head of Department of Anatomy at CVAS, Pookode from 2011 to 2012. He continued as the Head of Department at CVAS, Mannuthy from 2012 and became the University Head of Department in 2013 till his superannuation in 2015.
During his career he held many additional charges like Registrar, KAU; DSW, KAU; Professor Academics, CVAS, Mannuthy (4 years), Assistant Warden Men’s Hostel (14 years), Professor (Research Co-ordination), PTA Secretary, Campus Development Officer, General Council Member of KAU, Member of first Academic Council of KVASU and Professor Estates, KVASU. He was a member of the Elephant Expert group of KAU.He has more than 100 research articles and pretty number of popular articles to his credit. He has chaired and presented several research and lead papers in national and international seminars.
He has organized the Agri-Unifest (2001) and ICAR Sports meet (2010) in KAU and IAVA National Seminar (2012) at CVAS, Mannuthy. He was the organizer of the Mega Auction mela of KAU in 1998-99 and KVASU in 2011. His wife Mrs. Betty Jose is the Additional General Manager, South Indian Bank, Coimbatore and only daughter Chenjal Marie Chungath is an Engineer and is married and settled in Hyderabad. Dr. Chungath is blessed with two grandchildren.
