As part of KVASU’s Wayanad 2030- Tribal Development project, a one day awareness programme on health, fitness and wellness was conducted for students of Model Residential School Kaniampatta. Developing good personality skills, prevention of communicable diseases and physical well being, maintaining physical fitness, impact of changing lifestyles, nutrition aspects, practical sessions on netrayogawere thetopics dealt during the programme.
The project had identified two tribal schools Ekalavya Model residential School Pookode and Govt. Model Residential School for Girls Kaniampatta in the initial stage of project implementation. Awareness seminar and life skills trainingswere held in the selected Tribal Residential schools. The programme brought a new insight to the little minds of the now considered most backward section. Life skill trainings were held in different sessions for students divided in groups. Social skills training, effective communication and interpersonal relationship, leadership, problem solving and decision making skills self-awareness, coping with stress were the sessions handled by recourse persons from Centre for life skills learning. The students had awareness classes on health, nutrition and personal hygiene. These trainings had created a substantial improvement in the routine life of the students said Shri. Stanney, Headmaster of the school. Shri.Anilkumar, Sr. Superintendent of the school expressed gratitude in the University’s involvement in shaping the behavior through such educational and skill trainings. Dr. P. Vidya, Assistant Professor and Soja P. S, Project assistant of theDirectorate of Entrepreneurship co-ordinated the programme.
