Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will sign MOU with Agriculture skill Council of India(ASCI) in the areas of skill development, capacity building, bridging the skill gap for the farmers, self help groups, un employed youth, entrepreneurs and extension workers engaged in organized / un organized Agriculture and allied ventures. Directorate of Entrepreneurship of University will collaborate with Agriculture Skill Council of India and Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP). A discussion was held between KVASU and ASAP officials with Dr.Satender Singh Arya, CEO, Agriculture Skill Council of India during the National workshop on Skill Enterprise Engagement for Empowering Kerala at Trivandrum. The proposed collaboration will determine skills/competency standards and qualifications and development of National Occupational Standards. The collaboration will pursue for sector skill specific development plans, standardization of affiliation and accreditation process, plan and execute training of trainers, affiliation, accreditation, assessment and certification of vocational institutes/programmes and promote academics of excellence. Moreover the proposed collaboration will establish well structured, sector specific labour market information system to assist planning and delivery of training along with adoption of global best practices. KVASU-ASCI joint venture will give more emphasis to skill development programmes in livestock and poultry industry. The collaboration with ASCI will facilitate to bridge the skill gap in livestock and Poultry industry and generate more employment avenues for the unemployed youths. Moreover it will help to improve productivity, innovation and entrepreneurship in dairy, poultry and allied ventures. In the era where Government of India is giving more emphasis to Skill development programmes under Skill India initiative, it will help to create opportunities for unemployed youths in Agri and allied sectors within the country and abroad.
