06 Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will collaborate with Thrissur Agri Horti cultural society’s 38th Thrissur Flower show which will be held at Thrissur from 8th to 17th January 2016. Thrissur Agri Horticultural Society is conducting Flower show at Thrissur in collaboration with Thrissur District panchayat, Thrissur Corporation, Department of Agriculture, Cochin Devaswom Board, Kerala Agricultural University and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. KVASU’s Directorate of Entrepreneurship will showcase unique projects of the University like 24X7 Veterinary Services e Vet connect, Startup village project to promote safe to eat concept and Anaswara quail project to promote Nutritional security among urban households along with farmer based technologies of the University.
The Anaswara project unit consists of ten high producing layer type Quails, specially designed wire mesh cage with automatic nipple drinkers, portable hanging assembly for cages, detachable aluminium tray for dropping collection, deodorant acidifier spray, 4 kilograms of quality layer quail feed and Leaflet on quail farming. From the unit, it is expected to produce about 2800 eggs /annum which will ensure self-sufficiency of household egg production and leads to nutritional security and sustainable agriculture practice. Moreover the automatic nipple drinker, egg tray and feed channel attached with the high-tech cages makes the management of birds easy even for kids. The unit will ensure clean and fresh egg production at households and availability of bio manure for kitchen vegetable cultivation.
