Prof. (Dr.) P.J. Raj Kamal, Professor and HUD, Veterinary Extension and Former DE & Students Welfare in charge, retires on Super-annuation on the 20th January 2016

Prof. (Dr.) P.J. Raj Kamal is a native of Thiruvanathapuram and belongs to 1973 BVSc. & AH batch of KAU. He has put in more than 30 years of service in the university. He has a PhD from IVRI and is also a recipient of FAO fellowship in the year 2000. He has worked in the different units of the University viz, AICRP, KVK, RARS, and colleges and has guided many MVSc and PhD students besides the MBA students of IGNOU as well as KAU. Besides being the author/co author of eight text books, he has also published nearly 70 research papers in national / international journals. He has evaluated and submitted policy reports for the Govt. / KAU on projects implemented by the AHD, AHADS, TARC (ICAR) etc. He was one of the study team members to a study by Geography Institute, University of Zurich (GIUZ), on deputation, which was a pre-requisite study for the funding by Intercooperation, Berne to establish APCOS in the Malabar region (MRCMPU). Research projects undertaken by him include those funded by STEC, AHADS, ICAR and Planning Board. He was the implementing officer of many ICAR outreach extension programmes, such as Village Adoption Programme, Lab to Land Programme ,Institution Village Linkage programme etc. He has received appreciation letters from KAU for organizing trainings, farmers’ seminars, exhibitions and NSS camps. He was the first Director of Entrepreneurship as well as Students’ Welfare in charge of the University. His hobby includes writing English poems that are being published in the international online poetry sites viz. poemhunter.com and poetry about.com
His wife, Smt. Anitha kumari. A is with KVASU as Deputy Registrar and their only daughter Ms. Athira Raj Kamal who was working as Sub editor, Deccan chronicle, National Daily, is currently settled in U.S.A.
