08Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in association with Pullazhi Kole padavu Sahakarana Sangham and Thrissur Urban Development Corporation launched the safe to eat products of Pullazhi Start up village Project. Sri. Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA launched the products by handing over it to Dr.Sisilamma George and Dr.K.Devada Dean of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy and Director of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on 1st March 2016 during the function held at St.Joseph Church Hall, Pullazhi, Thrissur. While launching the product Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA suggested that a time when keralites are spending more amount for medicine for emerging diseases projects to promote safe to eat products will facilitate better health among the public. This is a suitable example for land to lab programme.
This model can be percolated in other areas of the State. While presiding over the function Thrissur Mayor Smt. Ajitha Jayaraj suggested that Thrissur Corporation is involved in promoting the safe to eat concept to counter the emerging diseases. Mayor lauded the activities of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in launching the start up projects in Thrissur Corporation. While delivering the keynote address Registrar of KVASU Dr.Joseph Mathew suggested that University will try to improve model projects in appropriate area to meet the food and nutritional security of people. Student’s involvement will be made compulsory while implementing the integrated farming models in kole lands. Trichur Urban Development Authority Chairman K.Radhakrishnan, Secretary Pullazhi Kole padavy Sahakarana Sangham K. Gopinathan, Thrissur Corporation Councillors Rajani Viju, A. Prasad, C.B.Geetha and M.K.Mukundan and Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr.Sisilamma George, Director(Academics& Research) Dr.K.Devada, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology and Dr.G.Girish Varma offered felicitations. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan welcomed the delegates and Asst Professor Dr.Deepa Ananth expressed vote of thanks. Around 70 farmers and students participated in the launching function. Vegetables, Milk and egg in eco friendly packings under kasavu brand were launched during the function.
