09Academic and research institutions need to conduct stake holder based research on decentralized planning, Says Dr.P.P.Balan, Director, Kerala Institute of Local Administration, Thrissur. Dr.Balan made this remark during the valedictory session of 28 days orientation programme of Academic Staff College of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy on 9th March 2016. Academic linkages between local bodies and research institutions need to be strengthened so as to reach the benefits of decentralized planning among the public. Many North Indian Universities used to conduct series of workshops and deliberations on Decentralized planning and Panchayat raj system in the country. Since Universities in the State are considering this as a separate system, KILA is trying to emerge as a separate University to promote Panchayat Raj and local administration in the country. KILA is interested to pursue with KVASU in the area of Entrepreneurship development programme, decentralized planning and capacity building; Dr.Balan added. KILA Director distributed certificates to the participants of orientation programme. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship of KVASU during the presidential address suggested that Directorate of Entrepreneurship of the University is pursuing further for a meaningful collaboration with KILA in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Rural Development and Project development. During the function Director of Academics and Research Dr.K.Devada and Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy Dr.Sisilamma George released the Compendium published in connection with the Orientation programme. Director of Academic Staff College Dr.B.Sunil during the introductory talk suggested that KVASU will conduct refresher courses for the faculty members of University and college teachers across the country. Course Director Dr.Karthiyayini presented report. Dr.Sujith welcomed the delegates and Dr.R. Uma expressed vote of thanks.
