08As part of building collaboration with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, senior officials from NDDB visited KVASU Mannuthy Campus on 6th and 7th June 2016. Team from from NDDB includes Senior General manager Mr.AshokKumar Gupta, Senior Scientists Dr.B.L.Bhanderi, Dr.Sanjay Gorani & Dr.A.V.Harikumar. Officials from KVASU Dr.Joseph Mathew, Registrar, Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr.Sisilamma George, Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy, Dr.Gireesh Varma, Dean, CDST,Dr.Syam Mohan, Finance Officer, Dr.Sudheer Babu, Special Officer,Dr.K.P.Sreekumar, Director, International Co-operation & Initiatives, Dr.B.Sunil, Director, Academic Staff College, Dr.C.B.Devanand, Professor, E Vetconnect & Dr.Deepa Ananth, Asst Professor co-ordinated the programme from KVASU. NDDB identified broad areas of collaboration with KVASU which include Entrepreneurship, Skill development programmes, Internship for students, advisory call centres, technology transfer, translatory research, ration balancing and one health. NDDB has also shown keen interest in Entrepreneurship Development programmes in the Dairy Sector, Dairy Business School, Entrepreneurship Centres, Diploma programmes in Entrepreneurship, EDP at different levels for farmers, SHG, Un employed youths and other stakeholders and agreed to support formation of producer companies. KVASU is planning to launch milkobike a unique skill development programme with the support of NDDB to meet the scarcity of milkers in the State. Moreover it will collaborate with Agriculture Sector Skill Council programmes and capacity building ventures of the University.NDDB’s Product process Development Department will facilitate up scaling of Low cost milking machine, Dairy products Development, Temperature Humidity Index for Animal welfare and cow comfort, Research on teat dipping, Bioactive peptide as a replacement for Antibiotic. Moreover the joint venture will integrate Ration balancing and Ksheeraprabha with the Inclusion of NDF as a parameter and MUN as an indicator. NDDB identified e vetconnect project of the University as a national model for developing Veterinary services and call centres across the country. NDDB will collaborate with Appropriate ICT deliverables and knowledge transfer projects including production of Mobile apps. KVASU will associate with Mastitis control programme at National level with focus on Subclinical Mastitis, Antibiotic kits, Antibiotic resistant bacteria mapping, one health and Brucella control programmes. The joint venture will facilitate Productivity enhancement programmes with the use of appropriate inputs like Mineral mixture, Parasite control, RBD, Cow Comfort, Animal welfare, fodder development and area specific fertilizer &Extension tools.
