College of Food Technology, Kerala Veterinary Animal Sciences University, Thumbhurmuzhy has celebrated World Environment Day-2016 on 7th of June with the Support of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE). Dr. Dinker Singh, Special Officer, has welcomed the delegates. Dr. G. Girish Varma, Dean, Faculty of Dairy Science, Mannuthy, Presided the function, Dr. Joseph Mathew, Registrar, delivered the keynote address. Hon’ble MLA of Chalakudy Constituency Sri B.D. Devassy Officially inaugurated the function. Based on the message ‘A leap to Mother earth’ saplings are planted by the delegates. Inaugural session was followed by two scientific sessions. One is delivered by Dr. E.K. Kurien, Special Officer ACCER, Vellanikkara on the topic ‘Climate Change and Its Impact on Natural resources’. Dr. V.R. Raghunandanan Prof. (Retd) Dairy Science College, Mannuthy has given an expert lecture on “Go Wild for Life-Zero Tolerance for the Illegal Wild life Trade”. A documentary was also played on for providing awareness to the public regarding the conservation of Environment and Wildlife. Mrs. Sheeju K. K., President, Chlakudy Block Panchayath, Mr. Jenish P. Jose, President, Pariyaram Grama Panchayath, Mr. Radhakrishnan, President, CFT-PTA, has felicitated the function. Mrs. Athira S., Asstt. Prof. (Dept. of Food Chem) has proposed Vote of Thanks for the gathering.
