21The College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy organized a function to mark the genesis of Eco Club on June 20, 2016 at the classroom of 2015 batch in the presence of KVASU Registrar, Dr. Joseph Mathew. The Registrar in his address to the students reiterated the fact that humans cannot dodge themselves from nature. He appreciated the students’ interest in organic farming and utilization of used flex materials to make grow-bags; and offered his ardent support to the upcoming Eco Club, to be registered at CDST to promote eco friendly farming at the campus.
Kum. Athira M. Nair (2015 batch) presided over the function. Dr. G. Gireesh Varma, Dean and Mr. Shyam Suraj S.R, Associate Patron gave felicitations. Dr Yancy Mary Issac, Assistant Professor, Department of Dairy Husbandry is the motivating force behind the initiative of the students and her enthusiastic efforts were well admired by all.
A video update of the preliminary activities of the Club like fodder cultivation; visit to organic farm, Department of Olericulture (KAU), Aquaponics unit at Eco Farm and other organized dairy farms was displayed. 2015 batch students Mr. Sayanth (Class representative) welcomed the gathering and Mr. Parameshwar Mohan gave the vote of thanks.
