16The School of Applied Animal Production and Biotechnology (SAAPBT), Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Thrissur announces a series of Hands on Training Programme on “Introduction to Bioinformatics Tools” from August, 2016 at Mannuthy, Thrissur. The course is open to faculty members, research scholars, post-graduate students and professionals from Government/Private institutions involved in research/teaching in biological sciences. The first batch of the training is scheduled from 9-12 August, 2016.
The School of Applied Animal Production and Biotechnology along with Centre for Advanced Studies in Animal Genetics and Breeding has got well-equipped laboratories with all modern facilities for carrying out biological research. The School is equipped with sophisticated instruments such as PCR, Real-time PCR, high speed refrigerated centrifuges, UV spectrophotometers, CO2 incubator, Osmometer, Gel electrophoresis systems, Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis, Gel documentation system, ELISA reader, Fluorescence and inverted microscopes, Nanodrop and bioinformatics facilities. The School has got expertise in all aspects of wet lab molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid isolation, PCR, restriction enzyme analysis, electrophoresis, SSCP, quantitative real time PCR, ELISA as well as analysis of research results with various bioinformatics tools.
The training, handled by experts in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics field, will be an opportunity to the students, researchers and faculties who wish to either begin their research in the field of Molecular Biology or augment it using modern techniques.
