25Wayanad District has immense opportunities in Dairy and Tourism sectors; says Transport Minister Sri. A.K.Saseendran. Minister made this remark while inaugurating the 100 day celebrations of the Government and Seminar on Wayanad development at Muncipal Town hall, Kalpetta on 24th September 2016. Government is in the process of implementing people friendly programmes and projects; Hon'ble Minister added. Sri.C.K.Saseendran MLA presided over the function. Department of Information and Public relations organized the programme.While delivering the keynote address in the seminar on Wayanad-Achievements and aspirations Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship suggested that development of the district need to consider population, technology, demand and ecosystem. Planning should be based on increasing population, demand and emergence of technology in the forthcoming 10 years. Agribusiness, post-harvest technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and food processing are the key areas for development. There is huge potential for Information and Communication technology based deliverables. Responsible tourism, sustainable tribal development andagri processing, Being an Agri based district organic farming and production of safe to eat products can be promoted in a big way in the district. Carbon Neutral project and organic production system can be explored for increasing exports from Wayanad. The region can be considered as a Special economic and production zone for organic vegetables and fruits and can be exported through Kannur international airport. Wayanad as an ideal dairy district for milk production. Commercial dairying, livestock and poultry production will meet the increasing demand of animal protein sources in the district. It has been forecasted that number of internet users in the country will reach 730 million by 2020. Moreover smartphone users will be nearly 702 million. In order to meet the emerging challenges E commerce will emerge as one of the important mode of shopping and services.
