03Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has brought out its first Package of practices recommendations-2016 on 30th November 2016. This is the first edition after the inception of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University since 2011. This scientific publication with the periodicity of five years has incorporated the results of various research findings made in the University during the last few years. In today's technologically advanced World, knowledge is emerging as production and people always search for the best, so it is the need of the society to make the laboratory and research findings for their practical use. Package of practices recommendations spread in seventeen chapters namely cattle, buffalo, goat, pig ,rabbit and lab animals, elephant, poultry, forage, meat and meat products, one health initiative, milk and milk products, ethno pharmacology and indigenous practices, animal disease control and prevention and post mortem techniques and autopsy report.It has come out of the deliberations of the workshop PREBAV 2015 held at Thiruvananthapuram with all the stakeholders such as University officers, faculty, heads, scientists, officers of Animal Husbandry, Dairy development Department, MILMA, KLDB, KSPDC, Kerala feeds, progressive farmers, entrepreneurs and other extension professionals. Latest research findings and relevant details incorporated in this publication will be very useful and serve as a ready reckoner for the stakeholders. . Appropriate scientific information will help the farmers and entrepreneurs to increase production and productivity from livestock. Moreover it will facilitate the State to attain self sufficiency in milk, meat and eggs. Vice Chancellor added.
