29Extension Council meeting of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University held at Trivandrum on 28th December 2016 decided to launch series of programmes to attain self sufficiency of livestock products in the State. University will implement Dairy Entrepreneurship programmes in a mission mode in Palakkad, Wayanad and Idukki districts. Says Vice Chancellor Anil.X who chaired the meeting. Facilities available at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, training Centres of Dairy Development Department, Animal Husbandry Department and Kerala Livestock Development Board will be integrated to facilitate round the clock entrepreneurship and skill development training programmes. Vice Chancellor added. KVASU will associate with National Skill development Council for implementing skill development programmes in the areas of Agri and livestock skill development in the State. KVASU will implement MIlkobike the unique skill development programme to cater the scarcity of milkers will be implemented with the support of National Dairy Development Board and Kerala Garmin Bank. Availability of Farmer based publications across the State will be augmented with the support of Milk Co-operatives and Veterinary institutions. E Vet connect project will be extended across the State in a phased manner. All farms ad hospitals of Kerala Livestock Development Board will be linked through e Vetconect project. Precision farming, promotion of safe to eat products, One health, Technology enable learning, start up village, popularisation of area specific mineral mineral mixture and productivity enhancement programmes will be the focus areas during 2017. University will facilitate to implement scientific cattle welfare measures to augment production in association with University of Bristol, UK. University will implement appropriate social entrepreneurship programes to promote educational awareness like sumedha which will be extended to potential areas. Stipendiary, skill development and capacity building programmes for potential stake holders will be augmented. An exhibition, Seminar and training programmes will be organised during February 2017 in connection with the proposed National Symposium on Conservation of local cattle and Biodynamic Krishi at KVASU Mannuthy campus. Campus placement programmes will be structured to meet the demand of undergraduate and Post graduate students of various campuses of KVASU. Customised projects for small holder and commercial dairy projects will be made available for the stakeholders with the support of NABARD. Fodder production and technology transfer will facilitate to reduce cost of dairying in the State. In order to promote pig and Poultry production including broiler farming at commercial level pollution control issues will be addressed at the State level. University will take a lead role in this sector. University will implement Connect the interface between scientists and officers of stakeholder departments at regular intervals; Poultry Business School to promote poultry Entrepreneurship and Management at Post graduate level will be launched during 2017.
