13With the co-operation of Dairy Development Department, the College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy organized 7 days Field Extension Training for 2013 batch B. Tech students from 30.5.2017 to 6.6.2017 at Wayanad district. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. P.T. Gopala Kurup, Chairman, KCMMF at Kaniyambetta APCOS. The programme consisted of visit and study of Dairy Co-operatives, Dairy Plants, Dairy Extension Service Unit, Student Dairy Clubs, Cattle Feed Plant, Community Radio, Joint Liability Groups, BMC, Meat Plant etc. Also the students participated in organizing Block Ksheerasangamam and World Milk Day, which was inaugurated by Sri. C.K. Saseendran MLA, BoM Member of KVASU. They also took classes for farmers and made a milk line study to assess the quality of milk from farm to dairy plant. Students understood the diversification of Dairy co-operatives and the role of Information Technology in milk procurement and testing. The students were impressed with the programme and had a worthy learning opportunity of field level extension.
The programme was monitored by Dr. G. Girish Varma (Dean), Dr. P. Sudheer Babu (Professor and Special Officer), Mr. Jose Immanual (Deputy Director, Wayanad), Mr. Prakash (Principal, DTC, Kozhikkide), Mr. Varkey George and Ms. Sinila Unnikrishnan ( Assistant Directors) and other field level officials of Dairy Development Department. Mr. Shyam Suraj S.R (Assistant Professor) and Ms. Harsha V.S. (Dairy Extension Officer) were the coordinators of the programme. CDST is thankful for the unrestrained support given by the Dairy Development Department and Dairy Co-operatives of Wayanad for the conduct of the programme.
