10Dr. C.M Aravindakshan, B.V.Sc, MVSc, DJ Associate Professor & Head Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Mannuthy always known as 'Aravindan Vallachira' retired from service on 7th March 2011 after 32 years of successful academic activity in the University.
Dr.Aravindakshan completed graduation and post graduation from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy and is one of acclaimed film writers in the state who has published 13 scholarly books on film studies in Malayalam.
Dr. Aravindakshan joined Kerala Agricultural University as Junior Asst. Professor in the year 1978, became Assistant Professor and Associate Professor during 1982 and 1989 respectively. He held various positions like Associate Patron of Students Union, Asst Warden, Co-ordinator, Students Counseling centre and member of Kerala Agricultural University General Council. He has authored 17 books of which 4 books were on Clinical practice & Pharmacology which includes A Guide to Veterinary Doctor, Veterinarian’s Drug index , Veterinary Meteria Medica and Veterinary Pharmacology. Dr.Aravindakshan had received several National and State awards which include National award for best book on Films in 1991, Kerala state film award for best book on Cinema in the year 1989 & 1991 and Kerala state film critics award for best book on cinema in 1989, 1990 & 2001. Chalachitra Academy (2001-2003) Dr.Aravindan Vallachira led a very active life and his film journalistic activity is amazing. He can be called as an encyclopedia of world films who managed to do all these activities without affecting the academic duties and functions. He continues to be loved by generations of students of his college and film lovers. On behalf of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University the Vice Chancellor wrote to him wishing Dr.Aravindakshan a very active and fruitful post tenure life, hopefully in close association with the activities of the University and Indian film industry.
