27 Kerala Governor His Excellency MOH Farook passed away at Apollo Hospital in Chennai at 9:10 pm on Thursday. He was undergoing treatment for cancer in Chennai who was 75 years old. All Government offices and schools were closed in Kerala on Friday. Sri.Farook, a senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Puthucherry and MP, is survived by son and two daughters. He was sworn in as the 19th governor of Kerala last September, prior to which he had occupied the gubernatorial post in Jharkhand. Farook had served as Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puthucherry thrice and was Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism between 1991 and 1992. He was elected to LokSabha for three terms from 1991 from Puthucherry and had also served as Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.Expressing deep sorrow and shock over the death of the Governor, officials of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University condoled the death and said that though Sri. Farook had served in the post for a brief period and had shown keen interest in the development of the state.
