World Food Day Commemoration 2018 Jointly organized by Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) Thrissur Chapter and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science University at VKIDFT, Mannuthy.

The Association of Food Scientists & Technologists (India) Thrissur Chapter in association with the Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University conducted the 23rd Quiz and Poster Contest in ‘Food & Nutrition’ on 16/10/18 at 12 noon for High School Students in the Veterinary College Auditorium, Mannuthy. In the same function, Certificates of Merit and Medals were awarded to the Best Outgoing Graduates in Livestock Products Technology Courses in BVSc & AH, B Tech (Dairy Science & Technology), B Tech (Food Engineering), BSc Hon (Agriculture) and BSc (Family and Community Science), as well.

In the Contest, 100 High School students from 25 schools participated with their parents and teachers. Mr. Aswin Warrier, Assistant Professor, Dept of Dairy Engineering, CDST, Mannuthy was the Quiz Master.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Vidyamandir, Poochatti, Thrissur bagged the Rolling Trophies for Schools securing 1st Prize both in Quiz and Poster Contest. Sreeram Madhavan.V and Abhinav. K represented the Quiz team and Neha R. Nair and Aneena Elizabeth Verghese, the Poster painting team.

The 2nd Prize and Rolling Trophy for school in the Quiz Contest, was won by Shahin Shabin Nasar and Abhinav S Pramod of Rani Public School, Vadakara, and Govind V Kartha and Harigovind P of Sree Kirshna HSS, Anandapuram secured the 3rd Prize.

In the Poster Painting Contest, the 2nd prize and the rolling trophy for school was won by Sisira Anto Akkara and Afra N of St Joseph’s CGHSS, Thrissur. The 3rd prize was for Sreehari M.S. and Meenakshy T.S. of Gurukulam Public School, Venginissery.

The Trophies and Certificates of Merit were awarded to the following Best Outgoing Graduates: Dr. Sreelekshmi U, BVSc & AH, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur, Dr. Sruthi C, BVSc & AH, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pookode, Mr. Ann Mathew, B Tech (Dairy Science & Technology), Miss. Fathima K S, B Tech (Food Engineering), Miss. Keerthana Jayarajan, BSc (Hon) Agriculture, Miss Majidha Nasrin Kadambodan, BSc (Family & Community Science).

In the valedictory function, the prizes, certificates and rolling trophies were awarded to the Best Graduates and winners in the Quiz and Poster Contest by the Chief Guest Dr. C Latha., Dean, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur. Dr. Irshad A, Secretary, AFSTi Thrissur Chpter welcomed the gathering and Dr. Sathu T Asst Professor, Department of Livestock Products Technology proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Rajakumar, President of the Chapter addressed the gathering.

As a part of the World Food Day 2018 celebration, a separate meeting was convened in the Seminar Hall of VKIDFT, Mannuthy on 16th Oct. 10.30 AM. Dr. K P Sudheer, ICAR National Fellow & Former Vice President, AFSTI, Mysore inaugurate the function and Mr. Vinod Manjilas, Managing Director, Manjilas Food Tech Pvt Ltd. delivered the key note address on the World Food Day theme: World Food Day 2018: “Our Actions are Our Future. A #Zero Hunger World By 2030 is Possible” This function was presided over by the President of the AFST(I) Thrissur Chapter Dr. Dr. Rajakumar. Dr. Beena A K. Professor, CDST, Mannuthy welcomed the meeting. Faculty, Students and staff from CV&AS, CFT and CDST attended the function.
