14The second convocation of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) was conducted on 1st November 2018 at KVASU head quarters at Pookode, Wayanad. Hon. Minister for Forests, Animal Husbandry, Dairy development and Zoos, Government of Kerala and Pro-chancellor of the University, Adv. K Raju distributed University Gold medals to 18 students who excelled in various disciplines. In total, 226 students who have completed Diploma, Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral programmes in Veterinary, Dairy Science and Technology and Poultry Science disciplines were awarded the certificates.
Minister stressed that the man Animal interface need to be improvised and emphasized the need to adopt the latest technologies to develop climate smart, less resource intensive livestock and to improve the quality of livestock products and declared KVASU CHALLENGE 2018 to address the recent floods and climate change.
In convocation address Hon. Dr. C. Balachandran, Hon. Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) opined that diversification by combining crop with livestock enterprises would leads to employment generation and precision livestock farming which may be the next technological breakthrough.
Sri. C. K. Saseendran, MLA, Sri. O.R.Kelu, MLA, and other members of Board of Management, Management Council Members, University Officers, Peoples representatives and Government officials attended the convocation.
