30 The state plan project of 2011-12 sanctioned to The Veterinary Ambulatory Clinic of COVAS, Mannuthy was inaugurated on 27/03/2012. The project named rural veterinary health and infertility clinic has been designed with a view to provide modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities in the mobile clinic of the rural and hilly terrains of cherumkuzhy and malamukku of Nadathara , Panancherry and Puthur gramapanchayaths.
Ollur M.L.A., Sri. M.P.Vincent inaugurated the project at cherumkuzhy in a function which was presided by the Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy Dr.H.Subramanian. Director of Research Dr.A Jalaludeen delivered the key note address. Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr.S.Ramkumar released the leaflets. The farmers’s seminar was inaugurated by Sri.K.V.Dasan, Thrissur District Panchayath President. The free medical kits were distributed to the elite farmers by Sri.T.P.George, The Block Panchayath President. Felicitations were offered by Smt. Jessy Jacob, Block Member, Sr. P.K.Vijesh, Ward Member, Sri. K.A.Gopalan, Ward Member, Sri.O.J.Philip, Cherumkuzhy Milk Scociety President and Sri. K.K.Abraham, Malamukku Milk Society President.In the farmer’s seminar, Dr.M.R.Saseendranath, Prof &Head, Dept. of Preventive Medicine, presented a topic on Zoonotic Diseases, Dr.S.Ajithkumar, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Clinical Medicine, presented a topic on Metabolic diseases of cattle and Dr.Shibu Simon handled a session on Management of cattle Infertility. Dr.C.B.Devanand, Prof & Head, Veterinary College Hospital was the Moderator of the Seminar.Sri. O.J.Philip and Sri K.K.Abraham, Presidents of the Milk Societies, Smt. Jincy James and Sri. N.V.Mathai, Elite farmers of Cherumkuzhy and Malamukku were honored in the function. Nearly hundred farmers attended the function. Earlier a health and infertility camp was organized at cherumkuzhy and 44 animals were examined in the camp. Free antirabies vaccination was given to dogs and cats.Dr.Biju P.Habeeb and Dr.M.P.Unnikrishnan are the principal investigators of the state plan project - rural veterinary health and infertility clinic. This plan project is implemented by the Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine and Department of Animal Reproduction.
