22 The ASCAD (Assistance to states for Control of Animal Diseases) training programme 2012 for Veterinary and Para-Veterinary officers of Animal Husbandry Department started at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Dr.P.C.Alex, Dean, CVAS, Pookode inaugurated the programme on 18th of April, 2012. Dr.S.Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University released the compendium on “Advanced concepts and techniques in the diagnosis and control of infectious and contagious diseases on 20th April 2012 in presence of the Dean and Course Coordinator, Dr.Ajith Jacob George. Dr. S.Ramkumar handled the session on strategies to be undertaken by the field veterinarians for forecasting, controlling and reporting of animal disease outbreaks. The 10 days training programme is being attended by 19 Veterinarians including Senior Veterinary Surgeons from the five Northern districts of the state.
