05In keeping with the mandate of fostering quality education, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University formally decided to recognise the contributions of meritorious and dedicated members of its teaching faculty. The Dr P.G. Nair Endowment Best Teacher Award ceremony was held with all grandeur on 23.6.2012 in the Seminar Hall, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy. The presence of Dr P. G. Nair, our former Dean an an eminent academician and teacher, lent an air of solemnity to the event. Dr N Vijayan, Professor, CV& AS, Mannuthy, welcomed the gathering. Dr H Subramanian, Dean College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy and Dr A Jalaludeen, Director (Academics and Research) Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University addressed the assembly. The Dr P. G. Nair Endowment Best Teacher award, instituted in the year 2000, by Dr P. G. Nair, consists of a memento, a citation and a certificate besides a cash award of Rs 5000. The awards for the years 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 were presented by Dr P. G Nair. In his speech to the house, Dr P. G Nair reminded the faculty that the crux of the institution was the guru sishya relationship. He also stressed upon the importance of using recognition and rewards as mechanisms for boosting the morale and increasing the productivity of people in the organisation.
The Dr P.G. Nair Endowment best teacher awards for the years 2008, 2009, and 2010 were bestowed upon Dr M Mini, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Dr C Latha, Associate Professor, Department of Veterinary Public Health, Dr K M Lucy, Associate Professor, Department of Veterinary Anatomy, all three from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy while the award for 2011 was bestowed upon Dr Raghu Ravindran, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookot, Wayanad.
Dr Leo Joseph, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookot, Wayanad, felicitated the award winners and exhorted other teachers to emulate them. In their reply speeches, the award winners recalled the untiring efforts of various individuals especially their parents and teachers in helping them achieve this glorious distinction. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr K.P. Sreekumar, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Physiology.
