04 Jyothis the unique socio educational extension project of Koothuparamba assembly constituency of Kannur district started functioning from 1st September 2012 onwards. This unique project is aimed at creating awareness among students, teachers and parents on prospects of higher education within the country and abroad. Koothuparamba assembly constituency has been selected to be the forerunner based on the number of educational institutions, educational backwardness of the North Malabar region, scope for higher education and poor awareness on options on higher education. This project has been designed as per the suggestions of Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Government of Kerala and Member of Koothuparamba Assembly constituency Sri. K.P.Mohanan as part of the educational initiatives in the constituency.
Hon’ble Minister for Local administration and Social Welfare, Government of Kerala Dr.M.K.Muneer inaugurated the Jyothis Project on 1st September 2012 at P.R.Memorial Higher Secondary School at Panoor. Hon’ble Minister for Youth welfare and Tribal development Kum. P.K.Jayalakshmi released the booklet on Jyothis and distributed Gurusreshta &Meritorious awards. Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Sri. K.P.Mohanan presided over the function. Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University agreed to partner with Jyothis Project for conducting advanced teachers training programme to selected teachers of the constituency based on advances in teaching; participatory learning and need based educational programmes. Vice chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Dr. B.Ashok IAS launched the official website of the project www.jyothisedu.com. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director, Jyothis and Dr. M.K.Madhusoodhanan, Convenor, Jyothis spoke on the occasion. Amrita University and Indira Gandhi National Open University are also expected to collaborate with Jyothis project.
