09 Workshop on Perspective plan for Wayanad 2030 began at Pookode Campus. Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), the Wayanad University is organizing this two day workshop defining way forward for Wayanad on Wayanad2030 a perspective plan. Workshop started with the opening remarks of Dr.B.Ashok IAS, Vice Chancellor of KVASU on 9th November 2012 at University campus, Pookode. 150 delegates from different departments including Tribal development, Education, Animal Husbandry Department, Agriculture, Dairying, Tourism and NGOs in Wayanad District participated in the deliberations aimed at streamlining structured planning in respective areas for a prospective Wayanad. The programme organized by Directorate of Entrepreneurship of the University is aimed at developing a perspective development plan for Wayanad District. Sri. T. Madhava Menon (Retd IAS) was present during the opening ceremony. Director of Entrepreneurship Professor S.Ramkumar explained the conduct of the workshop in the current context. He mentioned that development of Wayanad District has to be viewed in three perspective areas viz; current situation, envisaged vision for 2030 and the blue print to achieve the vision. Theme wise discussions were organized in which the participants expressed their views; each thematic discussion had a keynote address and lead paper. Sri. T.Madhava Menon (Retd IAS), Sri. Sajeev (District Planning Officer), Sri, K.T.Thomas of Malabar milk Union, Prakash, Dairy development department, Sri, Vikraman (Agriculture Dept), Dr.Jayesh (Animal Husbandry Dept) Dr.Anilkumar (MSSRF), Sri. Vancheeswaran (Tourism), Smt. Santhy (Navodaya Vidyalaya), Ramesh (Conservator of Forests), Abbas Ali (DIET), Narayanan Kutty (KVK, Ambalavayal), Sri. Hemarajan (Tribal Development) presented key papers during the group discussions. KVASU Pookode faculty members moderated the sessions. The conclusions drawn by the group were presented in the plenary session. Director of Entrepreneurship Prof.S.Ramkumar chaired the plenary session on the first day. University is committed to present the findings to the Government for appropriate action. Participants highly appreciated University’s role in providing various departments to discuss the issues for a foreseeing future.The Hon'ble Ministers Kum. P.K.Jayalakshmi and Shri K. P. Mohanan are to attend the Post Workshop inaugural and valedictory function in the University headquarters on 10th November 2102.
