29 Anatomy education needs latest trends in ICT and virtual learning; says Dr.R.Prabhakaran, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai. Vice Chancellor was inaugurating the XXVIIth Annual Convention of Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists (IAVA) and National Symposium on Advances in Applied Anatomy of Domestic and Wild Animals – ‘An Interdisciplinary approach for Animal Health and Wealth’ at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur on 28th November 2012 organized by Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists and Kerala State Veterinary Council .Stem cell research and wild life sciences are the emerging areas in Veterinary Anatomy, Vice Chancellor added. President IAVA and Dean, S.V.V.U, Tirupati Dr.T.S.Chandrasekhara Rao presided over the function. Director of Academics and Research, KVASU Dr. A. Jalaludeen released the Compiled book of lead papers titled Emerging Concepts in Veterinary Anatomy and delivered the key note address. Registrar, Kerala State Veterinary Council Dr. N.N.Sasi inaugurated the Wild life Photography exhibition. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.S.Ramkumar released the Compendium. General Convenor Dr.J.J.Chungath welcomed the delegates and Organizing Secretary Dr.N.Ashok expressed vote of thanks.
150 delegates are attending in the three day Symposium. Dr.T.V.Anilkumar, Scientist, Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum delivered Dr. Vijayaraghavan memorial lecture on 28th November 2012. Different sessions in the Symposium includes Gross and Developmental Anatomy, Biomechanics, Forensic Anatomy and Fossils, Clinical Anatomy, immunology and immune Histochemistry, Histology, Avian Anatomy, Wild life Anatomy and Biotechnology. Retired Anatomy teachers of KVASU Dr.Radhakrishna Kaimal, Dr.P.O.Ommer, Dr.Lucy Paily and Dr.K.R.Harshan were honored during the inaugural session. Dr.Thandavamoorthy of RAGAVOCAS, Pondicherry and Dr.R.K.Das of Bhubaneswar received best Anatomy researcher awards of IAVA.
