28 Students and staff members of College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy paid homage to India’s Milk man Dr. V. Kurien. Honoured as the architect of India's White Revolution, which catapulted India to be the world's largest milk producer, he was instrumental in laying the foundation of democratic enterprises at the remote villages and far-flung hamlets which ensured economic justice to all. Dr. Kurien managed the feat in the 1970s at a time when it faced grim uncertainties over its food security.
To commemorate the valuable contributions made by Dr. Kurien to the India’s dairy scenario, a small yet meaningful gathering was convened at the college premises on 26th November 2012, the 91st birth anniversary of Dr. Kurien. Professor (Dr.) R. Rajendrakumar, Dean, CDST lit a candle and delivered a talk stressing the legend’s memorable contributions to dairy sector. Prof. (Dr.) P.I. Geevarghese - Head, Dept. of Dairy Chemistry and Dr. Rajakumar - Head, Dept. of Dairy Technology addressed the gathering.
