24Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Sri. Sashi Tharoor released the recent publications of KVASU during the inaugural function of 'Responsible Shopping Corridor Conclave' jointly organised by Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, Flint Media and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University held at Mascot Hotel Trivandrum on 24th December 2012. A livestock entrepreneur from Trivandrum Mr.Sivaprasad received the publications from the Minister. During the inaugural session Hon'ble Union Minister for HRD suggested that organic farming is becoming one of the unique sectors of responsible shopping corridor. Demand for organinc agri and livestock products are increasing day by day. Moreover it will fetch very good price in the domestic and international market. So there is a need to strengthen this sector as part of responsible shopping corridor; Minister added. Chairman KTDC Sri. Vijayan Thomas presided over the function. Responsible Shopping Corridor seeks to evolve shoppers who are commited to spend their money on items those are produced without slave or sweatshop labour, organic, providing environment friendly and supporting progressive human cause. Publications released include book on Goat rearing, Rabbit rearing, Dairying, Ostrich and Booklet on Entrepreneurship Directorate and Training calendar. Dr.B.Ashok Vice Chancellor KVASU delivered the keynote address. During the keynote address Vice Chancellor emphasised the importance of fuel conservation and production of bio-fuels. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.S.Ramkumar, Director of Animal Husbandry Dr.K.G.Suma and Registrar Kerala State Veterinary Council Dr. N.N.sasi participated in the function. Dr.K.Anilkumar and Dr.Sreeja R Nair of KVASU presented papers on Green farming and Food Safety issues respectively in the Conclave. KVASU's publications will be available for sale at KVASU exhibition stall @Biodiversity exhibition centre, Kanakakkunnu Palace, Trivandrum.
