08What did the Directorate of Entrepreneurship do in 2012?
Preparing to bid farewell for 2012 we thought it would be good to take stock and share the activities.
It was an Year of accomplishments, though the works to be undertaken to fulfill the mandate of Directorate is highly demanding for 2013!
The entrepreneurship directorate has been involved in the pluralistic tasks of initiating diverse programmes.
We are happy to have achieved the following in 2012 :
1. The Workshop on WAYANAD : 2030 a perspective plan was organized by the Directorate. This meeting was a forerunner to the efforts of KVASU as the Wayanad University to script a blueprint for a vibrant, sustainable Wayanad. This was an effort supported by the various development departments of the district including education, tribal information, Animal Husbandry, Dairy development, Agriculture, Tourism, NGOs. The blueprint is to be released by January 2013.
2. Partnership with Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) was initiated. The Workshop with KVASU has identified the four areas of Biotechnology, Biomedical research, Climatology and Bioinformatics for collaborative research.
3. The starting of technology enabled learning which will help farmers, veterinarians and other professionals to acquire knowledge and claim a certificate for their learning is in the process. The School of New Media and Research has proposed the two courses of (i) Post Graduate Diploma in Livestock–Agri Entrepreneurship and Food Security Management (ii) PG Diploma programme in Farm Journalism.
4. Capacity building of professionals, farmers entrepreneurs and other stakeholders is an important activity facilitated by the Directorate. The directorate led various training programs of the colleges and liaisoning with AHD,DDD and other departments. 21 In-service training programmes for officers of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy development Departments are in progress for 2012-13. 25 vocational training programmes and nine stipendiary training programmes are being undertaken for 2012-13.
5. The University is in collaboration with “JYOTHIS” a socio-educational Project inaugurated in Koothuparamba, Kannoor for the benefit of the School students with the participation of the teachers and parents. Methodologies of teaching relevant to the making of responsible students is an area of collaboration.
6. The Year saw the Collaborations being framed between KVASU and the Universities of Edinburgh, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary medicine and Western Australia.
7. Management Development Programme for the Faculty of KVASU on “Academic Leadership” was organized in Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode for Five batches. Three months training programme for the Assistant Directors of AHD of Govt of Kerala was organized in a revised training format.
8. The Publications section of the Directorate has brought out the University Newsletters. The Directorate has edited and published nine books, all written by the faculty catering to the needs of the farmers/entrepreneurs. Documents like brochures, leaflets are being designed and printed.
We provide regular Farm News Service to Doordarshan., AIR and newspapers. The editing and publishing of different documents are also undertaken.
9. One of the important regular activity is the outreach programme which includes Exhibitions in different parts of the State and outreach programs seminars and Workshops. The last in the series of Exhibition Stalls of KVASU are now raised at the Biodiversity Board Pavilion at Trivandrum and Panoor Panchayat meet at Kannoor (December 21-30, 2012).The Directorate is planning to establish a Mobile Exhibition unit.
10. The Directorate is in liaison with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Govt of Kerala in their Entrepreneurial Activity Programmes.
11. Directorate supports the various university union students’ activities and NSS activities. Support the international collaboration.
12. Supported the participation of Faculty in training programmes and participation in seminars in India and abroad.
