22KVASU will explore knowledge partnerships; Says Vice Chancellor. VC has announced this during the inaugural session of the International workshop on Companion Animal Welfare and Clinical Education held at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of KVASU Mannuthy campus on 18th morning February 2013. Vice Chancellor shared his views on such workshops and elaborated the need for continuing such partnership efforts. These workshop last in the series of three was organized as part of a partnership programme between KVASU and University of Edinburgh with the help of British Council, India.
During the inaugural function, Prof. Natalie Waran, Director of Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education (JMICAWE) of University of Edinburgh, presented the report on previous two workshops and highlighted the significance of such capacity building exercises. Prof. Natalie shared her views on organizing such knowledge sharing efforts and expressed her eagerness and enthusiasm in continuing the partnership between the two universities. Moreover she urged the lady veterinarians to come to the forefront of all the professional and administrative activities. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr. S. Ramkumar during his presidential address highlighted the importance of different unexplored areas of knowledge sharing workshops and means of strengthening the relationships. Dr. Ruth de Vere, Head, International Education for the World Society for Protection of Animals (WSPA) announced that her NGO, one the largest of that kind, is establishing their first office in India at New Delhi and expressed desire to have knowledge partnership with likeminded organizations and universities. Dr. K.P. Sreekumar, Registrar, Dr. A. Jalaludeen, Director of Research & Education and Dr. H. Subramanian, Dean of the faculty offered felicitations. Dr. K.Devada, Professor (RC) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Syam K. Venugopal, Convener of the Workshop expressed vote of thanks.
