31University is trying to develop cost effective technologies for the poultry farmers of the State; Says KVASU Vice Chancellor Dr.B.Ashok. Vice Chancellor was made this remark during the inaugural session of Farmer SCientist interaction of Poultry farmers held at KVASU, Mannuthy Campus on 26th March 2013. KVASU has decided to start a seperate faculty for augmenting poultry development in the State;VC added.Centre for advanced studies in Poultry Science of Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Mannuthy Campus organized the farmer scientist interface on Poultry Sector-Prospects and Challenges namely “Valarthupakshi Meghala- Vijayavum Velluvilikalum”. 250 selected poultry farmers from from the state, Veterinarians from Animal Husbandry department, representatives from NGO’s engaged in poultry farming, experts from industry and scientists from KVASU participated in the farmer scientist interface. scientific sessions, farmer scientist interaction and industrial exhibition were held as part of the interface. Dean.CVAS, Mannuthy Dr.H.Subramanian presided over the function. Registrar Dr.K.P.Sreekumar released the publication and Director of Academics and Research Dr.M.R.Saseendranath delivered the keynote address. Dr.A.Jalaludeen(former DAR,KVASU), Dr.Leo Joseph(Dean,CVAS,Pookode), Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan(Directorate of Entrepreneurship), Dr.Sukumar(CASPS)and Dr.B.Ajithbabu of CASPS, Mannuthy presented papers . Dr.Shinekumar,PRO,AHD moderated the session.
The Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA) Kerala chapter associated with the interface and the renowned poultry awards instituted by IPSA were distributed during the function.Dr.A.Jalaludeen(Retd Professor, KVASU0, Dr.V.K.P.Mohankumar(Asst Director,AHD),Dr.Peetambaran(Retd Professor,KVASU), Dr.Richard Churchill(TANUVAS) and Dr.M.O.Kurian(Associate Professor,KVASU) received the Dr.Ramakrishan Memorial awards for Poultry research. Vice Chancellor distributed awards to the scientists. Leading industry manufacturers and suppliers participated in the meet.
