World Milk Day Celebrated at CDST Mannuthy

               The College of Dairy Science and Technology Mannuthy in association with the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, KVASU celebrated this year’s World Milk Day on 1st of June 2013. The programme was arranged at the Seminar hall, Communication Centre, CDST building Mannuthy. Dr. S. Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU inaugurated the World Milk Day celebrations and stressed the growing relevance of setting apart a day exclusively as World Milk Day for creating awareness among general public about the importance of milk and milk products. Dr. R. Rajendra Kumar, Dean CDST delivered the presidential address. Sri. Sasikumar Palliyil, President-CDSTPTA, Dr. C.T. Sathian, Head-Dept. of Dairy Science COVAS Mannuthy and Dr. P. Sudheer Babu, Head-KVASU Dairy Plant offered felicitations. Dr. P.I. Geevarghese, Professor and Head; Dept. of Dairy Chemistry welcomed the gathering and Dr. C.R. Rachana, Academic Consultant, Dept. of Dairy Chemistry expressed vote of thanks. 

        The inaugural session was followed by a technical seminar on the theme “Myths about Milk”. Dr. Sheela Karalam, R&D Expert, Oushadhi, Thrissur and Dr. C.I. Jolly, former Professor and Head, K.M.K College of Pharmacy Mumbai. Dean, CDST presented a paper on Road map of KVASU in Dairy science and Technology education which was followed by a panel discussion. Dr. K.T. Thomas, Managing Director-Milma (MRCMPU), Smt. Usha P.T., Dy. General Manager NABARD, Dr. N. Anandavally, UN-FAO/K-BIP Consultant on food safety and Sri. M. Govindan, Sr. Manager NDDB were among the panel members. A quiz competition on Milk and milk products was arranged for farmers. Dean CDST gave away prizes to the winners of the Quiz programme.
