19Dr. Anna Meredith, Professor of Zoological and Conservation Medicine is visiting KVASU-CWS 14th -19th July 2013. She is teaching the MS (Wildlife Studies) and MVSc students of CVAS-Pookode concepts of Conservation Medicine. The module provides students with an insight into Conservation Medicine, emerging infectious diseases and non-infectious threats to wildlife, and the interface between wildlife and livestock health, that would help orient themselves as per the present global requirements in the field of wildlife conservation, care and management. Dr. Anna also inaugurated the KVASU-CWS Molecular Wildlife Forensic and Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at the Centre on the 17th. The Registrar, DAR and FO of the University were also present. The lab will cater to molecular level research in wildlife science, wildlife forensics and provide hands on training to students in advanced molecular techniques. Vice Chancellor of KVASU Dr.B.Ashok conducted a detailed discussion with the visitor during which he reassured the commitment of KVASU in wildlife and Conservation Medicine education and assured support for further strengthening the collaboration between KVASU and the University of Edinburgh.
