28Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will start a centre for doing research on Kasargod local cattle at Kasargod; Says Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Sri. K.P.Mohanan. Minister made this announcement during the inaugural function of the first phase of Kasargod local Cattle farm at Bela Kumaramangalam of Badiadka Grama Panchayat, Kasargod District on 28th September 2013. Kasargod local cattle farm was established by Animal Husbandry Department to conserve Kasargod local cattle which are on the verge of extinction. This farm will pave the way for converting kasargod in to an organic district in the State. Minister emphasized the importance of zero budget farming and lauded the efforts of newly started Veterinary University for the International research collaborations. Sri. N.A.Nellikkunu M.L.A presided over the function. Kasargod District Panchayat President Advocate Shyamala Devi distributed farmer awards.District Animal Husbandry Officer, Kasargod Dr.H.Sajeev presented the report. SIDCO Chairman Sri. C.T.Ahemedali, President, Badiadka Grama Panchayat President Smt. Sudha Jayaram, Sri. M.H.Janardhana,Dr.Chandrababu and Dr.Nagaraj were among the few dignitaries who spoke on the occasion.Along with the inaugural function, a seminar on Kasargod local cattle and organic farming was held.
Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan(Head,Publications,KVASU),Dr.Subrahmanian(PrincipalScientist,CPCRI),Dr.G.K.Mahesh(AssistantDirector, AHD) and Dr.Giridhar(Professor, Kerala Agricultural University)took classes. Working Chairman Sri. Maheen Kelot welcomed the delegates and Special Officer Dr.P.Nagaraj proposed vote of thanks.
