25As part of skill development programme of Animal Husbandry Department, 25 days training programme for the first batch of entrepreneurs in the area of Hatchery management was held at Centre for Advanced studies in Poultry Science of KVASU, Mannuthy Campus, Thrissur in association with Directorate of Entrepreneurship..48 entrepreneurs identified through Livestock Management Training Centres across the State attended the programme. They were given hands on training in different areas of Hatchery management including breeding, feeding, management, disease control, marketing, organic farming, project formulation,etc.Experts from KVASU, Animal Husbandry Department, local bodies and NABARD handled different sessions. Vice Chancellor, KVASU Dr.B.Ashok, Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.S.Ramkumar, Director CASPS Dr. K.Narayanan kutty, Dean, CVAS, Pookode Dr.Leo Joseph, Special Officer, Poultry Science Faculty Dr.A.Jalaludeen, District Animal Husbandry Officer in Charge of Thrissur Dr.U.S.Ramachandran, District Panchayat Standing Committee Chairman Sri. Anil Akkara were among the few dignitaries who addressed the gathering. Valedictory function was held on 25th October 2013 at CASPS, Mannuthy. Dr.K.Narayanankutty, Director, CAS in Poultry Science presided over the function.District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr.U.S.Ramachandran distributed certificates. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Head, Publications released a book on Hatchery management. Dr.A.Jalaludeen and Dr.P.Anitha(Senior Scientist, AICRP on Poultry) offered felicitations. Dr.S.Sankaralingam, Asst Professor and Head, UPDF, Mannuthy resleased a book on poultry and addressed the gathering. Hatchery Manager Dr. Vimal Antony welcomed the gathering and Training co-ordinator Dr.B.Ajith Babu expressed vote of thanks. Trainees lauded the efforts of University and Animal Husbandry Department in conducting the training programe in a meaningful manner. it will pave the way for starting a successful venture in poultry entrepreneurship,they added.
